Voco Oxford Thames, part of the IHG Hotels group and located on the banks of the River Thames, received the Engineering Impact Award at the IHG Europe Hotel Impact Awards, held at Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre.

The hotel was commended for outstanding technical standards, efficient operations and guest experience.

Logesh Waran, hotel manager at Voco Oxford Thames, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive the Engineering Impact Award, and especially proud of our dedicated engineering team, Andrei, Scott and Johnny, who work tirelessly every day to ensure our hotel operates to the very highest standards, despite the unique challenges of maintaining a heritage building.

“Over the last year, they have improved the guest room experience score by 3.27 points, achieved 100 per cent compliance scores, reduced food waste by 10 per cent and helped reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint, contributing to the hotel retaining its Green Key accreditation.

“They have also taken ownership of the staff accommodation, looking after it with the same care and standards as another hotel, improving colleague facilities, reducing gas consumption by 20 per cent and installing additional beehives to support biodiversity across the property.

“Their contribution is essential to the guest and colleague experience, and this award is thoroughly deserved.”

Led by Andrei Poor, head of facilities and engineering, the hotel’s engineering team was recognised for exceeding key performance indicators and delivering high levels of guest and colleague satisfaction.

The awards celebrate excellence across IHG’s European hotel portfolio.
