Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust worker wins award
Nick Raven, senior accountant for research and development at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, was presented with the Exceptional People Individual Award for April.
He was nominated by Claudia Hurducas, deputy head of research and development at the trust.
Ms Hurducas said: “Nick has been consistently exceptional in the way he supports research delivery across Oxford Health, combining outstanding technical expertise with genuine kindness and integrity.
“Through our regular interactions and the many meetings we have worked in together, Nick has repeatedly gone well beyond his role to ensure that complex financial challenges never become barriers to high quality research.”
She described his work to develop and manage expanded biosample storage capability as an example of his commitment, ensuring robust governance and sustainability while navigating complex funding arrangements.
Mr Raven has made a significant contribution to managing a wide portfolio of complex grants and funding sources, and is known for his compassionate and inclusive approach to supporting colleagues.
Ms Hurducas said: “He takes time to help colleagues understand financial pressures, requirements and new ways of working, doing so with patience, clarity and respect.”
She said his work, though not patient-facing, directly benefits patients, service users and carers by enabling faster study activation, improved governance, and better use of resources.
