Oxford Bus Company Pride bus to support LGBTQIA+ community

Oxford Bus Company’s eye-catching Pride bus will take centre stage in the annual Oxford Pride parade on Saturday, marking its third consecutive appearance.

The bus will lead the procession from Paradise Square at 11am before leaving the route at Cornmarket Street and heading to the Radcliffe Camera.

Luke Marion, managing director of Oxford Bus Company, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Oxford Pride this weekend, demonstrating our support for the LGBTQIA+ community in Oxfordshire.

“We’re looking forward to creating a friendly and welcoming space, engaging with the community in a positive manner, and answering questions about our services and timetables.

“The electric rainbow-emblazoned bus has become a popular part of Oxford Pride, and it will again play a key role this year.”

Designed to improve accessibility, the bus will transport attendees who are less able-bodied from Radcliffe Camera back to Paradise Square.

Oxford Bus Company staff will host a promotional stand at Paradise Square, offering timetable information and branded merchandise.

The company has supported Oxford Pride for many years.

Following Saturday’s parade, additional events and performances will take place in Leiden Square and Paradise Street from midday until 8pm.

A street party will follow from 7.30pm to 10pm.

Oxford Pride is a volunteer-led charity that celebrates and supports the LGBTQIA+ community across Oxfordshire.

The first Oxford Pride Day was held in May 2003, with the inaugural parade taking place in 2008.
