Lunar Kites will launch their debut album The DoomStar Chronicles at a special event at The Bullingdon in Cowley Road, Oxford, on June 18.

The group first performed together 18 months ago at an open mic night in Jericho and has since become a rising force in the Oxford music scene.

They have secured radio play on BBC Introducing and appearances at venues including the O2 and the Jericho Tavern.

Tim Masters, the band’s guitarist who lives near Didcot, said: “As we’re a space rock band, we like to do things on a universal scale.

“Expect songs about space exploration, mythical quests, and dysfunctional droids – and a lot of dry ice.”

Their new eight-track album will be released in vinyl, CD, and digital formats on June 21.

It has already received critical praise, with the final issue of Oxford music magazine Nightshift describing it as ‘the perfect grooving soundtrack for an intergalactic road trip’.

The band’s lineup also includes Roger Bowley (bass), Andrew Findlay (drums), Jason Foster (guitar), and Antonio Serrano (vocals).

Mr Masters said: “In these times of global uncertainty, we could all do with some escapism.

“So why not let Lunar Kites lead you on a journey into their sonic universe?”
