Oxford Airport set to welcome young writing champions

The national winners of the Brookie’s Aviation Adventures Writing Competition will take part in a special aviation experience and awards ceremony at Kidlington’s Oxford Airport.

Organised by Brookfield Aviation, the competition invited UK children aged nine to 11 to submit creative works featuring Brookie, the company’s mascot who is half airline captain, half aeroplane.

Todd Skaggs, marketing and sales director at Brookfield Aviation, said: “Brookie’s Aviation Adventures was created to inspire young imaginations while introducing children to the incredible opportunities available within aviation.

“The response from schools across the UK has exceeded all our expectations, and we are delighted to celebrate our three national winners with an unforgettable day at Oxford Airport.”

The winners, joined by a parent or guardian, will enjoy a flight in a light aircraft, flight simulator sessions, and behind-the-scenes tours of Air Traffic Control.

They will also visit the airport fire station and aircraft maintenance facilities, and have the opportunity to meet aviation professionals.

An awards ceremony will take place from 4.30pm to 5pm.

Members of the media are invited to attend from 4.15pm to meet organisers and capture the trophy presentations.

The event will take place on Thursday, July 30 at 10am from Oxford Airport.
