New sauna and cafe for Oxford outdoor swimming pool
Hinksey Outdoor Pool, in Abingdon Road, was closed in September 2025 for the winter season and is expected to open in mid-May to early June.
Plans to reopen the 35-metre freeform heated outdoor pool have been delayed due to flood damage to the facility, caused by the wettest Oxfordshire winter in 190 years.

While more than £200,000 has been invested in upgrading the plant room during the off-season, there are hopes of further developments on the site, including a new sauna and cafe.
Rob Jennings, contract manager for Leisure Solutions Community Trust in Oxford, said: “At present, we are exploring several potential enhancements to the services available at Hinksey Outdoor Pool.
“However, any plans for these are still very much in the preliminary stage. Once we have any confirmed updates to share, we will inform our customers through all the usual channels.”
