Multiple offences in Bicester commercial vehicle blitz

A roads policing team stopped vehicles in Bicester as part of the enforcement, carried out with DVSA Enforcement and the Oxfordshire Roads Policing Shift on June 11.

The operation focused on the safety and legality of commercial vehicles on the roads, with a total of 29 offences recorded and four arrests on suspicion of drug driving.

Seven vehicles were prohibited, while officers also found five overweight vehicles and four with no insurance.

The operation also uncovered two vehicles without MOTs, two breaches of drivers’ hours, three illegally tinted windows and two number plate offences.

Officers also found two defective lights, one defective tyre, one insecure load and one seatbelt offence.

Four drivers were arrested on suspicion of drug driving, while one driver was reported for being disqualified.

Vehicle seizures included two vehicles with no insurance and two with no vehicle tax.

A spokesman for the Roads Policing Tasking Team said the joint operation in Bicester was carried out as a proactive road safety check, focusing on commercial vehicles “to help keep our roads safe for everyone”.

They added: “These checks are vital in ensuring that vehicles on our roads are safe, legal and roadworthy, helping to protect all road users.”
