Multiple men arrested after incident near Oxford Ladbrokes

Thames Valley Police has said it was called to Blackbird Leys Road in Oxford today (Tuesday, May 19) at around 4.35pm.

This was following reports of an alleged assault with injury with multiple witnesses saying there were ambulances and police vehicles at the scene.

One local businessperson said there was a “large police presence in Blackbird Leys due to a seriously injured person”.

A man in his 20s, the alleged victim, was taken to hospital and is receiving treatment with police having cordoned off a residential area close to a series of shops including a Ladbrokes and a Nisa Local.

A police spokesperson said: “At around 4.35pm today (May 19) officers were made aware of an assault with injury on Blackbird Leys Road, Oxford.

“The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained injuries and is currently receiving hospital treatment.”

Following their initial presence at the scene, the force announced it had arrested two men on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, a 41-year-old and a 20-year old.

The spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man and a 20-year-old man both from Oxford have been arrested on suspicion of grievously bodily harm.

“At this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident and is no wider threat to the public.
