Major police presence on town street after ‘drug deal’

Multiple police cars and officers responded to an incident on Lancaster Crescent in Grove during the early hours of Thursday, July 23.

Thames Valley Police officers from the Wantage and Grove neighbourhood team and the incident and crime response attended the scene after a report was made of a ‘suspected drug deal’.

A spokesperson for the force said officers ‘responded quickly and swiftly detained two individuals’.

The report came from what police described as a ‘vigilant member of the public’ who saw the incident in progress.

One man was found in possession of class A drugs and cannabis, and was ‘dealt with’ for the offences, the force said.

He was then also found to be driving with a provisional licence, and his car was seized.

The police spokesperson added: “This is another great example of why information from the public is so important.

“We can only act on what we know, and your reports help us tackle crime, remove drugs from our streets, and keep our communities safe.
