Organised by residents and supported by local businesses, the Magdalen Road Village Summer Festival will take place on June 6 from 9am to 4pm.

The annual event, designed to boost support for independent street-side traders, is backed by a host of unique events and activities for all the family.

Highlights include a flea market at the Magdalen Arms, pop-up plant sales, a beekeeping Q&A at Wild Honey, and an art market at Magdalen Road Studios.

Visitors can also expect performances from local musicians, including the street’s well-known musician Dave Seamer.

Children’s activities will be organised by local residents, Caper Bookstore, and the Pegasus Theatre.

A yoga session will also be organised by Every Body Studio.

In keeping with its ‘shop local’ theme, the festival will see Taste Tibet provide street food, the Magdalen Arms reveal their famous wood oven meals, a juice bar by the Magic Cafe, and the street’s variety of coffee.

Other activities are yet to be announced.

Former Lord Mayor, resident, and co-organiser, Craig Simmons, praised the community for its support over the years: “For the last two years our amazing community of residents have showed up to celebrate the fabulous organisations we have on Magdalen Road.

“This year will be bigger and better.

“We must support our independent retailers every day of the year, rain or shine.”
