Lancashire Police officer denies corruption and drug supply

Hakeem Mahmood, 30, of Abbeydale Way, Accrington, appeared in the dock at Burnley Crown Court this afternoon (August 14) with six others also charged in relation to the cocaine conspiracy.

They are:

• Khaleel Asghar, 30, of Crossland Street, Accrington
• Waqar Khan, 30, of Exchange Street, Accrington
• Asif Faizal, 33, of Higher Antley Street, Accrington
• Zeeshan Hussain, 21, of Paddock Street, Oswaldtwistle
• Raheem Rangzeb, 23, of Lister Street, Accrington
• Sarfraz Hussain, 33, of Bagley Wood Road, Oxford

All other defendants also denied their involvement in the conspiracy.

Asghar and Sarfraz Hussain further denied a charge of conspiring to possess/control identity documents, namely a UK passport, with intent.

Asghar also denied possessing a document with intent to deceive.

The particulars of the charge allege that all seven defendants were involved in a conspiracy to supply cocaine between August 2024 and January 2026.

In relation to Mahmood, it is further alleged that, while being a constable with Lancashire Constabulary, he exercised powers and privileges improperly, and failed to exercise his police powers when travelling with Khan while the Zacky drug line was actively being used to supply cocaine.

Andrew Scott, prosecuting, said the defendants had all been sent to Burnley Crown Court across different dates and hearings, and applied for all the cases to be joined to one indictment.

Judge Daniel Prowse set a trial date for January 18 next year, with an estimated length of six weeks.

A pre-trial review date was set for November 23.

Asghar and Sarfraz Hussain were remanded in custody as before. Bail for the other defendants was allowed to continue.
