Labour MP for Oxford East, Anneliese Dodds, said the funding will help improve early years education in her constituency, giving children a better start in life and making childcare more accessible for families. She said: “I’m delighted the Labour Government is turning things around and boosting local nursery provision.

“Along with free breakfast clubs for primary school kids and the recent boost in paid-for childcare, these measures will make a real difference for many children and their families in Oxford East. Research shows that early years is where we can make the biggest difference to children’s life chances.

“Improving provision and support for children and parents and guardians during these critical years will remain Labour’s priority.”

Funding has been announced for new or expanded nursery places at three schools—John Henry Newman Academy, St John Fisher Catholic Primary School in Littlemore, and Tyndale Community School.
