Kidlington electric vintage car company buys American firm

The British company has acquired TREMEC Electric, meaning the company will have a permanent US base in Huntingdon Beach, California.

The announcement does not disclose the financial terms of the agreement, or any change in jobs to either company.

In the announcement Steve Drummond, chief executive of Electrogenic, described TREMEC Electric GT as “an exciting business underpinned by a talented and like-minded team.”

He added: “The USA is our most important market, and we wanted to provide additional support to our US partners, as well as establishing a strategic base in California as part of our ongoing SDV software development programme.”

Drummond added that the deal would provide the company with “a technical centre of expertise on the USA West coast”, with the two firms now set to “continue to explore future mutual opportunities in advanced technology and manufacturing.”

The Kidlington-based company now supplies electric powered Land Rovers to the British Army.

The company partners with brans to restore and re-create beautiful classic cars, which then become electric-powered.

Jason Momoa, Game of Thrones star, recently visited the site in Kidlington to convert five of his vintage vehicles to electric power.

This included three 100-year old Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The company also sell ‘drop-in’ kits to allow owners of old Mini to convert the cars into Electric Vehicles from their own garages.
