Kenco to reduce instant coffee packs by 5 per cent in stores
The change affects its Smooth, Rich, and Decaf varieties, which will now be sold in 190g and 95g formats—down from the previous 200g and 100g jars.
The revamped products will begin appearing in stores on Monday, June 29.
The brand said the move was made to “better align with shopper missions, while matching 150g and 300g paper refills”.
Kenco also said the introduction of 95g packs would offer “a more accessible entry price point that still delivers the full premium design treatment”.
Will the Kenco instant coffee packs also reduce in price?
It remains unclear whether the reduction in jar size will lead to lower prices for consumers.
The Grocer reports that the new jars will start at a minimum RSP of £5.85
This marks a notable increase, as the current 100g jars of Kenco Smooth and Rich are priced at £4 in Sainsbury’s.
The 200g jars retail for £8.35.
Kenco attributed the pricing to investments in the brand, stating that costs reflect spending on innovation, sustainability, and quality.
The company said final pricing decisions would remain at the discretion of individual retailers.
The jar size reduction comes as part of what Kenco describes as its largest refresh in 15 years.
Backed by a £4 million investment, the relaunch includes updated packaging and an improved coffee blend.
