Jeremy Clarkson’s two-word summary after record broken

The former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter took to Instagram to share his latest concerns about his newest venture as a farmer.

The 66-year-old has been running Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, since 2019, sparking the smash-hit show Clarkson’s Farm and the opening of his wildly successful Farmer’s Dog pub.

But alongside other British farmers, the TV presenter and journalist has been hit with problems outside his control on his 1,000 acre farm, from nature itself.

Clarkson shared a screenshot of the parched weather forecast for the next week, where temperatures are due to hit 33C in West Oxfordshire on Wednesday, the latest in a long string of heatwaves this spring and summer.

In his caption, the celebrity farmer said: “Harvest already f***ed. May as well enjoy it now.”

His two-word summary of ‘already f***ed will resonate with many farmers in the rural county of Oxfordshire, which has officially been in a drought since Wednesday, July 29, and hit with a hosepipe ban from Thames Water since the Thursday before that, July 23.

The punishingly hot summer, which broke the record for driest July since records began 190 years ago, has hit farmers hard nationwide, impacting crop decisions, profit margins and harvest yields.

This has the potential to cause UK-grown food shortages this autumn and and a possible rise in food prices in supermarkets in the months to come.
