Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub hit by vegan protesters

PETA supporters staged the demonstration on August 26, at The Farmer’s Dog pub

Found on the A40 at Asthall near Burford, the pub has been owned by the Clarkson’s Farm frontman since 2024.

Bought for around £1m, the farm features entirely British food, a lot of which is grown or reared on Diddly Squat between Chadlington and Chipping Norton.

Protesters grilled a fake dog on a barbecue beneath a sign that read: “Wouldn’t Eat the Farmer’s Dog? Why Eat a Pig? Go Vegan!”.

Kate Werner, senior campaigns manager at PETA, said: “Pigs are playful, intelligent individuals who feel pain and fear, love their families, and value their own lives, just like dogs do.

“Clarkson says he’s ‘always been fond of pigs’, and he – and other patrons – ought to put that fondness into practice and leave pigs off their plates.

“Because there’s no more reason to eat a pig than a dog.”

The protest drew strong reactions from pubgoers with one man appearing to lash out at one of the protesters filming.

It is not yet known whether Mr Clarkson is aware of the protest outside his pub.

In the latest series of Clarkson’s Farm, he gave up keeping pigs as they did not make financial sense.

He kept two as pets: Richard Ham and James Boar.
