Jeremy Clarkson forced to wait on future at Cotswolds farm

The 66-year-old former Top Gear host is waiting on West Oxfordshire District Council regarding the future of an important and long-fought feature at Diddly Squat farm.

Found in between Chipping Norton and Chadlington, the 1,000 acres of Oxfordshire countryside has been subject to many planning applications.

Most famously was for the farm shop, which is now fully open to he public and has proved a hit with thousands of visitors every week.

In addition to the farm shop, Mr Clarkson had successfully applied for a car park at the site to accommodate the cars arriving to the attraction.

In April, Mr Clarkson asked West Oxfordshire District Council for planning permission to extend its temporary consent of use until December 31, 2030.

This would allow the journalist to keep the car park in place lawfully for another four years.

The final decision rests with West Oxfordshire District Council, following an initial three-year temporary consent granted on appeal in June 2023.

This decision was supposed to be reached by June 9 this year, planning documents say.

However, the Clarkson’s Farm host has been forced to wait to date an extra two months with no suggestion as to when a verdict will be delivered.

A separate six-acre overflow field used for peak visitor capacity at The Farmer’s Dog near Burford is permitted to operate as a car park until December 31, 2029, under strict council conditions.
