Historic Oxfordshire luxury interiors shop priced at £300k

The Old Forge in Tetsworth, near Thame, has been listed for £300,000 with the site formerly run by Hines of Oxford, a family-run business that dates back to 1830.

The actual property dates to the eighteenth century and was used as a forge until the early 1990s, after which it was renovated.

Its listing from Fisher German states: “During renovations, the building was completely rewired and benefits from intruder and fire alarm systems which could easily be reactivated by the alarm company.”

In addition the building was re-roofed in 2011 with handmade tiles and is vented front to back with insulated ceilings.

It also features a kitchenette and an entrance lobby, as well as an original wheelwright’s cone which has been secured to the ground.

Hines of Oxford, which used to occupy the building, is an Oxford company that first opened as a gentleman’s tailoring firm in 1830.

Since 1979 it has focused on luxury home interiors, including tapestries, woven art, cushions and other home accessories.

The Testworth building was subject to a successful change of use application earlier this year.

As such it is now in Class E and can be used for a wide range of commercial facilities including a restaurant, shop, gym or office.
