The woman, said to be 37 weeks pregnant, fell heavily to the floor when the seat detached entirely from its fixings, according to an anonymous post shared by a family member on a Bicester Facebook group.

The incident was reported to Vue staff, and the woman later contacted her maternity unit for help and guidance.

Vue said a thorough investigation had taken place, but CCTV footage did not support the claim that the customer fell to the floor.

A spokesperson for Vue said: “We have apologised to the customer for the distress caused when her seat moved unexpectedly during a screening.

“Our health and safety team has thoroughly reviewed the incident, including available CCTV footage, which does not support the customer’s account that she fell to the floor.

“The customer did move seat, but continued to watch the film to the end and no report of injury has been made in connection with the incident.

“We take health and safety matters very seriously at Vue, and following a full internal review, we are satisfied that the matter has been appropriately investigated and addressed.”

The customer was offered complimentary tickets as a goodwill gesture for any distress caused by the incident, but this offer was declined, and the complaint has now been closed.
