The 35-year-old is studying at Oxford University, in the city where she grew up, having opted to study a Master’s degree in creative writing in 2023.

It was announced last year that Ms Watson had switched to a DPhil while on her acting break, and she previously had studied at two local schools, the Dragon School and Headington School.

The actress is well known for her iconic role as Hermione Granger in all eight of the Harry Potter films, released from 2001 to 2011.

Now, a former co-star of Ms Watson’s has praised her for playing the “pivotal” role at such a young age.

Tom Felton, who played school bully and Slytherin wizard Draco Malfoy in the films, was speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast last week.

The 38-year-old said: “There’s no one that I admire more, really, considering being cast for such a now pivotal role in history.

“At the time, nine years old, not to mention the added dimension of being a young woman, a young girl going through that is another level of complexity.

“Needless to say, I can’t relate to that, and I can’t even experience it.”

Then, when speaking about his Harry Potter castmates as a group, Mr Felton added: “But, you know, I just have huge admiration for all of them.”
