Flats evacuated as Oxford crews rush to ‘dangerous’ fire
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 9.51pm to a shed fire in Oxford Road in Cowley on Monday, July 6.
Two crews from Rewley Road and Slade Park fire stations attended with residents living in apartments near to the fire being evacuated immediately.

One eyewitness said that fire crews gained access to the garden – when the fire was – through a car park, as they were unable to get through the property, which is currently vacant and being refurbished.
He described the situation as “dangerous”.
Local people watched from nearby Temple Court as the crews tackled the flames with high pressure hose reels.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called on 6 July 2026 at 9.51pm, sending two fire engines, from Rewley Road and Slade Park fire stations, to a shed fire at an address on Oxford Road in Cowley.
“Crews used high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire. They departed at 11pm.”
