Federation of Master Builders marking 85 years in Oxford

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) will host its National Conference on July 9 and 10 at the Oxford Belfry Hotel & Spa, bringing together FMB members, industry leaders, and policymakers from across the UK.

The conference will focus on key industry issues including rising costs, skills shortages, planning reform, and the Government’s housebuilding ambitions.

Brian Berry, chief executive of the FMB, said: “Eighty-five years on and the FMB remains the voice of the small builder – and events like this are a reminder of just how much strength there is in our membership.

“Builders are the backbone of the UK construction industry, delivering the homes, renovations and repairs that communities depend on.”

Chaired by broadcaster Philippa Forrester, the two-day event will include a business conference, an open FMB Board meeting, networking opportunities, and a Thursday evening barbecue.

It will conclude with a black-tie gala dinner at Exeter College, Oxford, featuring an after-dinner speech by journalist and former Fleet Street editor Eve Pollard.

FMB national president Phillip Hall said: “But when FMB members come together, you feel the real strength of this industry – the skill, the graft, the pride in doing the job properly.

“Oxford is a chance to take a breath, swap notes with people who understand what you’re going through, and remind ourselves why it matters.”
