Farmers out in force for special Oxfordshire tractor run

Approximately 40 tractors took to west Oxfordshire’s roads on the morning of Sunday, March 22.

The convoy began at 10,30am at Flats Farm, near Swinbrook, and from there they passed Minster Lovell at 10.45am, Witney Bridge Street at 11am and Hailey at 11.15am.

After that they went through Leafield at 11.30am and Burford High Street at midday.

There were tractors of a variety of sizes with several pulling trailers carrying people, sometimes only two and on other occasions more than 10.

Councillor Liam Walker said on social media: “Brilliant to see all those on the tractor run get back to Burford after a tour raising money for Witney Junior Young Farmers.

“Well done to all involved.”

There was a £20 entry fee for each tractor, with money being raised for the Witney Junior Young Farmers.

The charity exists to advance the education of young members of the public about agriculture, home crafts, country life and related subjects.

Its junior group meets every other Friday evening, from 7.30pm to 9pm, and is open to young people aged ten to 16 years, whether or not they have a farming background.

A spokesperson for the club said: “The Young Farmers Organisation is remarkable in what it has to offer young people.”
