Driver killed in caravan crash on A40 near Oxford and M40
Emergency services were called to the crash on the eastbound side between Wheatley and the M40 at around 6pm on Thursday, May 28.
The single-vehicle crash involved a blue Jaguar X-Type towing the caravan on the eastbound carriageway of the A40 near Wheatley.
The driver, a man in his 70s, was the only man in the car and he died at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

PC Grant Summersbee said: “Firstly, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of the man who has sadly died as a result of this collision.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to please come forward.
“I also ask drivers who were in the area before the collision, particularly those travelling on the opposite carriageway at around 6pm, to review their dash-cam footage, as it may contain information that could assist our investigation.

Pictures taken roadside show the caravan on its roof, detached from the vehicle that was towing it.
Firemen were called to help rescue people and traffic officers shut the road in both directions for the rest of the evening.

Traffic officers carried out investigation work on the dual carriageway before reopening the road fully just before 1am.
The Oxford Tube service to and from London were affected by the closure.
A spokesman said during the incident: “Due to an accident the A40 is closed in both directions at Wheatley.
“All coaches diverting. All stops will be served but we do expect delays. Apologies for any inconvenience.”
He later said, just before 1am, that the road had reopened.

The crash was the second major incident on the A40 in as many days.
Just one day before on Wednesday, May 27, a man had died in an incident close to the Headington stretch of the dual carriageway.
Thames Valley Police confirmed a man in his 20s died following reports of a fear for welfare incident, which occurred shortly after 2.45am earlier that night.
Police units and a forensic team were seen late on the morning of the Wednesday while a car was carried away by a truck.
