David Wilson Homes has gifted the life-saving equipment to The Northcourt Centre in Abingdon, a facility that hosts yoga, art, bowls, dancing, and flower groups and is available for function hire.

The portable defibrillator will now be on hand in the event of a cardiac emergency.

Campbell Gregg, managing director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “Defibrillators are incredibly important assets for local communities and we are pleased to contribute to Abingdon’s access to life-saving equipment.

“In crucial minutes during a cardiac arrest, it is vital that a defibrillator can be accessed quickly.

“We hope the contribution to The Northcourt Centre will help to prevent further tragedy and encourage all to learn about the proper uses of a defibrillator and the basics of CPR.”

More than 40,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year in the UK, and defibrillators are vital in preventing fatalities.

The Northcourt Centre is close to The Meadows at Abbey Fields, a David Wilson Homes development in the area.

The housing developer is part of Barratt Redrow, which has received a five-star rating in the Home Builders Federation Customer Satisfaction Survey for 17 consecutive years.

Site managers working for Barratt Redrow won 122 awards in the 2026 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.
