Dame Judi Dench sends message of support to Sobell House
Dame Judi Dench and Mel Giedroyc are among those who have voiced their support for Sobell House Hospice as it celebrates 50 years of care in Oxfordshire.
Their messages were shared in a series of videos released on social media around the hospice’s official anniversary on May 25.
Other familiar faces who have shown their support include actor Paul Chahidi, TV presenter Suzie Fletcher, and illustrator Korky Paul.
Beth Marsh at Sobell House Hospice said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many well-known supporters who have taken the time to share messages for our 50th anniversary.
“Their support is helping us reach new audiences and raise awareness of the vital care Sobell House provides for local people and their loved ones.”
Dame Judi spoke of her personal connection to the hospice, describing the comfort it provided when a friend was cared for there and offering a heartfelt thank you.
Ms Giedroyc called Sobell House “mighty” and thanked the hospice for helping people “through the toughest times with grace, dignity and humanity.”
She also revealed that her mother once worked as the hospice’s gardener.
A community celebration will be held at Westgate Oxford on June 13.
