Co-op taped off by Thames Valley Police after incident
The Co-op on Buckingham Road was reportedly taped off and surrounded by police on Thursday evening (August 27), prompting concern from shoppers and local residents.
However, both Thames Valley Police and the retailer have since said the incident was linked to a road traffic collision rather than anything involving the store itself.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police described it as a “minor road traffic collision” but declined to comment further.
A Co-op spokeswoman said the incident happened on the opposite side of the road and did not affect staff or the building.
She said: “We can confirm there is no damage to the store or to our colleagues, as the incident happened on the opposite side of the road.
“The store resumed trading later that evening and is open as usual today.”
