Oxfordshire charities and groups have the opportunity to receive financial support through the Co-op’s Local Community Fund, which is distributing a total of £3.5 million across the UK.

The funding is available to causes that help improve access to food, support mental wellbeing, create opportunities for young people, promote community cohesion, or contribute to building sustainable futures.

David Luckin, head of social value and community engagement at Co-op, said: “Beginning the search for new local causes to take part in a fresh round of funding is always exciting.

“Our members have told us that they want Co-op to focus on the real issues affecting people’s lives.

“Co-operation and people working together can be very powerful, and our funding enables local causes to deliver projects that focus on issues that matter most locally.”

The Co-op says that since launching the fund in 2016, Co-op members have helped support 40,000 causes across the UK.

Co-op members can support a cause in their area by selecting it through the Co-op membership app.

Mr Luckin said the funding helps bring positive change where it’s needed most, especially as many communities continue to face significant challenges.

The application window for this round of funding will remain open until June 24.

Groups can apply at www.coop.co.uk/causes.
