Christian Horner and Geri Halliwell make £80m life decision

The former Formula 1 boss, who lives near Banbury, was relieved of his Red Bull team principal role last year after two decades of service.

Mr Horner had been team principal at Red Bull since 2005, overseeing eight drivers’ world championships and six constructors’ titles.

The 52-year-old resides in a £9.2m mansion with his wife, Geri Halliwell-Horner, on the Oxfordshire border with Northamptonshire.

The Express reported last September that Mr Horner ended up agreeing to an £80 million payout after weeks of discussions, despite BBC Sport claiming the figure to be around £52 million.

Then, according to the Daily Mail this time last year, the celebrity couple made a decision to embark on a road trip around Scotland.

Having planned the holiday for years, and calling it their ‘honeymoon’, the pair were finally set to take the trip.

The couple got married in the Cotswolds around a decade ago, which saw the likes of Dawn French, Emma Bunton, and the late Niki Lauda all attend.

After his departure from Red Bull was confirmed, the 52-year-old said it had been “an honour and a privilege”.

He added: “I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved as a team, breaking records and reaching heights no one would ever believe were possible, and I will forever carry that with me.

“However, for me, my biggest satisfaction has been assembling and leading the most amazing group of talented and driven individuals and seeing them flourish.”
