Chris Gunter steps away Wales role to focus on Oxford United

The former Reading defender is the assistant head coach at the Kassam Stadium, serving under former Wales teammate Aaron Ramsey.

A statement released by the League One club today said: “Oxford United can confirm that Assistant Head Coach Chris Gunter will remain with the Club during the upcoming international break.

“Gunter has stepped away from his role as Wales Under-18s Head Coach to focus on his full-time position with Oxford United and is fully committed to his role with the Club.

“Assistant Coach Tom Hutton will also remain with the Club to support first-team training during the international window.

“The Club would like to thank the Football Association of Wales for their understanding and wish the Wales Under-18s well for their upcoming fixtures.”
