Chipping Norton school pupils secure top GCSE grades

Kingham Hill School in Chipping Norton reported that more than half of all grades awarded were between 9 and 7, more than double the national average of 22 per cent.

A third of grades were either 9 or 8.

Pete Last, headteacher at Kingham Hill School, said: “I am enormously proud of our Year 11 pupils, who have worked extremely hard over the last two years.

“These results are a fantastic reflection on them.

“Today, we celebrate not only the excellent results achieved by the year group, but also the stories behind them.

“Pupils have challenged themselves, exceeded their own expectations and made remarkable progress during their time at Kingham Hill.

“The encouragement, guidance and belief of our teachers has also been key to helping pupils grow in confidence, develop their strengths and aim high.”

Outstanding individual achievements include Gabriel, who earned straight Grade 9s and also completed his Mathematics A Level a year early, achieving an A*.

Aria received seven Grade 9s and three Grade 8s.

She said: “I really thought I was going to get just a 6 or 7 in Music, and I ended up with a 9, so I’m really quite happy with that one.

“The whole History Department has been amazing.

“Everything that Mr McFarlane [Geography Teacher] did to support us was just perfect, and Mr Savage [Maths Teacher and Head of Lower School] was absolutely amazing.”

Many students will return in September to begin A Level, BTEC, and CTEC courses.
