Share

Goal! Celtic 4-2 St Mirren: Luke McCowan seizes on a loose ball and surely Celtic are headed to the final.

Full-time: Everton 1-2 Liverpool

It felt like a draw and then Virgil van Dijk beat James Tarkowski to the ball from a corner and desolation resulted from the home fans.

My stint on the blog is over but we will keep it running until the conclusion of the Scottish Cup semi-final. John Brewin has the honours for that.

Another late goal, this one at Hill Dickinson:

We’re going to extra-time at Hampden.

And that is that.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 4-1 Burnley (Igor Jesus 90+8)

With Burnley pushing upfield Domínguez plays in Igor Jesus to add the icing on the cake.

Share

Full-time: Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland

It’s all over, what a game. Villa had to win that one twice.

Goal! Celtic 2-2 St Mirren (Mandron 90+1)

More drama, it’s all square at Hampden. Mandron gets his second and it looks like we’re heading to extra-time…

Goal! Aston Villa 4-3 Sunderland (Abraham 90+3)

It should be 4-3 to Sunderland as Diarra gets in one-on-one but Martinez makes an incredible save to swat away the forward’s attempted, then Villa go straight up the other end and score. Digne sweeps in a cross from the left and a brave Abraham flings himself at it, getting enough of a touch to bear Roefs.

We’re into added-time now. Will there be any more drama?

Goal! Aston Villa 3-3 Sunderland (Isidor 87)

Where has that come from? Le Fée turns the ball over just inside his own half and slides in Isidor, Mings slips and the forward is all alone to slot home. Remarkable!

Goal! Aston Villa 3-2 Sunderland (Hume 85)

Hume nicks the ball off Sancho on the edge of the Villa box but out on the left-hand side but cuts in and beats Martinez with an excellent finish from a tight angle.

Aston Villa 3-1 Sunderland

79mins: McGinn and Watkins go off, Jadon Sancho and Tammy Abraham enter the action.

Share

Goal! Nottingham Forest 3-1 Burnley (Gibbs-White 77)

That’s his hat-trick and some header! Picked out by Yates, Gibbs-White is behind the penalty spot but gets enough power on it to beat Dúbravka as it goes off the inside of the post. This is bad news for Spurs.

Aston Villa 3-1 Sunderland

75mins: Great challenge from Ballard probably keeps Sunderland just about in it. Watkins is in and powering towards goal but Ballard gets back as the striker cuts on to his right on the edge of the box to make the only challenge possible, stretching with his right leg. If he gets that wrong Ballard is probably seeing red.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 2-1 Burnley (Gibbs-White 69)

Oooft, that is a brilliant finish from Gibbs-White. Hutchinson works some space on the right and has time to pick out his cross, it’s a good one that finds his skipper who fires home first-time with a sweetly struck volley. Two goals in six minutes.

Aston Villa 3-1 Sunderland

67mins: Sunderland have made a couple of changes. A stricken Omar Alderete limps off has had to be replaced by Dan Ballard, while goalscorer Chris Rigg makes way for Trai Hume.

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley

64mins: Sels has to be alert to keep out Foster’s first-time effort at the back post to stop Forest falling behind again. Burnley are fighting here.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley (Gibbs-White 63)

He looks happy now! It’s pretty poor defending from Burnley as the ball is aimlessly looped into the box, Ward-Prowse’s header goes backwards and Gibbs-White is alert to latch on to it before taking a touch, then firing home.

Goal! Celtic 2-1 St Mirren (Mandron 52)

Game on at Hampden! Declan John picks out Mikael Mandron with a wonderful cross from the left and the French forward gets up highest to head home. Lovely stuff.

There’s been a goal on Merseyside, but who for Daniel Harris?

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Burnley

53mins: Big chance for Gibbs-White as the ball falls to him on the volley with a bit of space in the box but the Forest skipper cannot do anything with it. Gibbs-White looks angry, but then he always looks quite angry.
