Businesses burgled in Oxford city centre with police cordons
A police cordon was put up around Norah’s Antiques in Turl Street on Monday morning (June 8) while officers investigated the incident.
Police say the family-run antiques shop was broken into shortly before midnight the night before.
A large part of the pavement was also sectioned off by Thames Valley Police during the investigation.
A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: “We received a report of a burglary at an antiques store in Turl Street, Oxford, at around 11.50pm on Sunday, June 7.
“Officers are conducting a number of enquiries to identify those involved and establish what has been taken.

Founded in 1978, it’s not the first time that Norah’s Antiques has been burgled in recent years.

The day before the first lockdown was announced in the pandemic, on May 22, 2020, thieves broke through a window and stole a ‘large amount’ of expensive jewellery from inside.
Norah’s Antiques has been approached for further comment.
Meanwhile, also on Sunday, June 7, Mahogany Hairdressing in Little Clarendon Street was also burgled.
“There was smashed glass and police at the scene,” one eyewitness told us.

Year-on-year, there has been a 4.7 per cent decline in burglaries of businesses recorded from 616 to 587.
But the data also says that for last year (May 2025 to April 2026), just 72 of the reported business burglaries resulted in a ‘positive outcome’.
Prolific burglar Antonio Marraffa was jailed for 16 months having admitted to 48 offences in December.
The 30-year-old admitted to 25 thefts from shops, 12 thefts of bikes, three thefts from cars and parcels, one attempted burglary, one fraud by false representation, two assaults of a police officer, one assault, one public order offence, one resisting arrest and one criminal damage.
