Tap water in OX7 postcode first stopped running at about 3.30pm yesterday, March 23, when Thames Water sent out a ‘specialist team’ to identify the cause.

A burst water main was then located on the B4030, in the OX25 postcode towards Bicester, and traffic management measures were put in place to allow workers to make repairs.

Two-way traffic lights remain in place on the B4030 in a section from Pack lane to Hopcrofts Hold Garage, between Middle Barton and Lower Heyford.

While initial repairs were underway from about 6.30pm last night (Monday), Thames Water brought in tankers to ‘carefully reintroduce water into the network’ to restore supply to some homes.

By 9.15pm on Monday, the water company updated residents and said water had been restored to “most of the area”, though there continued to be intermittent low pressure.

The latest update issued at 7.20am on Tuesday (March 24) said: “Our team have fixed the burst pipe that may have impacted your water supply.

“We worked throughout the night to repair the damaged section of pipe and return water to you.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience while we fixed the issue.”

It comes just weeks after another part of West Oxfordshire was left without water for several days, after a burst water main in Eynsham caused a huge outage in Witney and the surrounding areas.
