Burst pipe in Banbury village as water supply to homes cut

Thames Water has confirmed that houses in the OX17 area may have no tap water or low water pressure due to a burst pipe in the area.

The leak was first reported soon at about 1.20pm on Thursday, August 28, and the water company said teams were on site and ‘investigating’ by 3.15pm.

Local reports are saying a burst pipe is in a road on the way out of Cropredy, where a road was flooded by water flowing ‘like a fountain’ out of a manhole cover.

A statement from Thames Water said: “Our specialist teams are in the area, we’ve now reset the boosters meaning your water should now be flowing again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

“Unfortunately, we think there is a burst pipe in the area, which means your pressure will be lower than your used to until we’ve located and fixed it. We’re in the area looking for the leak.   

“Knowing how disruptive it is if you lose your water supply, we’re working hard to fix things and return things back to normal as soon as we can.

Thames Water said they would provide another update for those affected on its Incidents page by 7pm on Thursday.
