Bicester-based Valda Energy reached its 50,000th energy meter point in February and now employs more than 125 people.

The company supports more than 40,000 small and medium-sized businesses across Britain, including 519 in Oxfordshire, and has installed around 132 smart meters across the county.

Daljeet Kaur, chief operating officer at Valda Energy, said: “Reaching 50,000 meter points is a proud milestone for us at Valda Energy and a testament to the journey we’ve been on.

“From the start, our goal has been to be the supplier of choice for businesses, one that truly understands the unique needs of SMEs and builds solutions that help them thrive.”

In 2025, the company welcomed 24 new starters, including 20 who are based locally.

It also delivered 30 internal promotions and supported eight apprentices through to qualification, with a further five currently in training.

The company has also increased its involvement in the community, donating £5,000 to 10 Oxfordshire sports clubs and taking part in 12 school and college engagement events.

Valda Energy was named a finalist for Employer of the Year at the 2025 Oxford Business Awards.

Steve James, co-founder and CEO, said: “Reaching this milestone reflects the trust small businesses place in us, but what matters just as much is the impact we’re able to have locally.”
