Bicester driver banned after child not wearing seat belt

Jimmy Ross, 24, of Bones Lane, Newchapel, Lingfield, was stopped on Pingle Drive in Bicester on November 8 last year while driving a Volkswagen Tiguan.

He appeared in court and pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and carrying a child under 14 in the front seat without a seat belt.

Ross was handed a five-month driving ban, fined £666, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £266 victim surcharge.

He must pay the full amount by June 9.

The Volkswagen was found to have no valid insurance.

He was also convicted of failing to ensure the child passenger was wearing a seat belt as required under the Motor Vehicles (Wearing of Seat Belts by Children in Front Seats) Regulations 1993.
