Banbury’s Castle Quay unveils brand new colourful mural

Unveiled in Banbury at Castle Quay, the artwork, titled Banbury Futures: A Happy Space, features contributions from dogs and schoolchildren.

Commissioned by Chiltern Railways and led by Banbury BID, the project brought together primary school pupils and artists from ThomFong Design Studio to imagine the future of Banbury.

After a public call-out on social media, the mural organically grew to include drawings of 155 dogs submitted by the community.

Jasmine Gilhooly of Banbury BID said: “Seeing the community come together today was really special.

“It was so seamless to work with David and Vicki of ThomFong Design Studio to transform this space, and it’s been really touching watching the children’s drawings come to life from start to finish.

“We can’t wait to keep the momentum going with our new sticker packs and activity sheets.”

Sally Moore of Hill View Primary School said: “I am just absolutely blown away, absolutely amazing colours.

“There is so much to look at, it is just amazing how the childrens orignial work has come to life. It is just stunning.”

The mural is located on the ‘Pink Wall’ in the former Marks & Spencer corridor inside Castle Quay.

To celebrate the launch, attendees received exclusive sticker packs featuring elements from the mural.

Organisers said the project would continue to grow, with an interactive activity worksheet for children set to be released the following week.
