A sale listing online said the asking price for the shop, including fixtures and furnishings, is £45,000.

It said: “Long established pet supplies and fishing tackle business with over 45 years of successful trading, located in a busy shopping parade in Banbury.

“The business benefits from a loyal customer base, excellent reputation and consistent trade, making it an attractive opportunity for a new owner.”

Paws Pet Supplies & Fishing Bait offers a wide range of pet food, treats and accessories, a popular homemade wild bird seed mix and fishing bait and tackle including recognised brands and its own products.

The listing added: “There is clear potential to grow the business further through the introduction of e-commerce, expanding product ranges and extending opening hours.

“This is a simple and profitable operation with low overheads, ideal for an owner-operator. The current owners are offering training to ensure a smooth transition.”

It comes after two other fishing shops closed in Oxfordshire, with Top Tackle or Gwyngrocers in Abingdon Road shutting in January last year to make way for an off-licence.

Then the Ace’s Tackle and Bait shop in Kidlington closed in November after the owner marketed the business for three years with no buyer.
