Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson was seen at Gail’s Bakery in Little Clarendon Street in Jericho this afternoon (Thursday, March 19).

The 50-year-old is best known for playing Mitchell Pritchett in the ABC series Modern Family, where he starred alongside Eric Stonestreet, who played husband Cam.

Running for 11 series from 2009 to 2020, the show also featured Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter.

Fans were shocked to see the US star at the bakery, and one Modern Family fanatic couldn’t believe her luck after she spotted ‘Mitchell’ in her local.

Wishing to remain anonymous, she told this newspaper: “It was really cool to see my favourite cast member of Modern Family during an impromptu coffee run.

“He was just as one would imagine him to be in person, impeccably stylish and with a very happy demeanour.

“I cannot believe I saw him right here in Oxford, and he seemed to be enjoying the sunshine as much as everyone else.”

Mr Ferguson was recently in the county as he and his husband stayed at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Great Milton last September.

Speaking about his stay, the actor said: “Popped into the UK to check out Le Manoir and it may have been the most beautiful place, ever.

“Thank you, Belmond Le Manoir, for opening your doors for us. This may be the most picture-perfect place we have ever stayed.”

The Jericho-based Gail’s is no stranger to a celebrity sighting over the years, with fans reporting sightings of Harry Potter star Emma Watson there two summers ago.
