Alcohol and drugs seized in Oxfordshire town’s crackdown

Officers from the Henley Neighbourhood Team found the alcohol during patrols around Mill Meadows, where they were enforcing a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) that prohibits the possession of booze in certain public areas to reduce anti-social behaviour.

The PSPO will remain in force across Henley until May 1, 2027.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “During these patrols, officers seized alcohol from a number of teenagers in breach of the PSPO, helping to reduce anti-social behaviour and keep the area safe and enjoyable for everyone.”

In a separate incident, a small amount of cannabis and a grinder were also confiscated following a positive drugs search.

The spokesperson added: “Another reminder that carrying drugs can be a costly mistake.”

Officers also inspected Fair Mile Cemetery after concerns were raised online about possible anti-social behaviour and damage.

After their site visit, police said there was no evidence of criminal damage, anti-social behaviour or inappropriate vehicle use.

They said: “The mystery of the tyre marks appears more ‘memorial works’ than ‘Fast & Furious’.”

Finally, the team updated that they attended a community event at the Henley YMCA, where they handed out crime prevention materials, let children explore a police car and try on uniforms.
