The Oxford head coach confirmed that Aidomo Emakhu has returned to first team training ahead of the side’s trip to Mansfield Town on Thursday night.

United travel to the East Midlands again after defeating Notts County 2-1 at the weekend to extend their League One unbeaten run to four games.

Winger Emakhu played in the first two games of the season before picking up an injury in training which has ruled him out for almost two months.

The U’s boss hopes that the Irishman will return to action soon.

Ramsey said: “Aidomo is back in with the team, training. So we’ll see how he goes now for the next games.”

Other long-term injuries include Ruben Roosken and Jeon Jin-woo who have both been missing since pre-season.

Despite not yet returning to training, the duo are nearing the latter stages of their recovery.

“They had decent injuries in terms of the length that they were going to be out for. But they’re progressing really well now and sort of at the latter stages now and sort of reintegrating into the first team again.

“We are going to have to be a bit patient now and build them back up with training load and things like that.”

The former Arsenal star added: “They’re back in and we’ll be monitoring them and putting them through a sort of plan now to get them in the best possible shape to come back in, but also to stay in.”

In his preview of the Yellows’ Thursday night clash with the Stags, Ramsey touched on his desire not to let clean sheets slip away late on in games.

At Meadow Lane last time out, Oxford conceded a stoppage time consolation goal shortly after doubling their lead.

Similarly at Stevenage in the second game of the campaign, United let slip a 98th-minute goal to end that game 2-1 on the road as well.

Harking back to the recent Notts County win, Ramsey said: “Obviously we would like to have had a clean sheet. The performance, I thought, deserved that.

“But if you switch off for a second in this league, you’ll get punished.

“It was one of them. But the game was already done by then.

“I think it was a really positive performance and not something that’s going to concern me going forward.

“I think everything about what we saw on the weekend was everything that we want to be. it had a bit of everything in there.
