Firefighters finish Three Peaks in memory of Bicester Motion
Taking place over the weekend, the trek was undertaken by firefighters and support staff to remember Jennie Logan, Martyn Sadler, and David Chester, who died in a fire at the former RAF site in Bicester last year.
Covering Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, the challenge was also a fundraising effort for the Fire Fighters Charity, which offers support to firefighters and their families.
The Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service announced the team’s success on Facebook, stating they had ‘conquered’ the peaks back-to-back and ‘pushed through their exhaustion’.
So far, the team has raised £4,375 online, with an additional £949.75 in Gift Aid.
The challenge was done a year after the tragic event at Bicester Motion as a ‘positive physical challenge to keep us together’.
The fire on May 15, 2026, engulfed a hangar, claiming the lives of firefighters Jennie Logan, 30, Martyn Sadler, 38, and businessman David Chester, 57.
Rob MacDougall, the chief fire officer of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, expressed his gratitude to the community for their ‘outpouring of kindness and support’.
He said: “We know how deeply cared for, loved, and respected Jennie, Martyn, and Dave were to everyone who knew them.
“The compassion shown by so many people over the last year is something we will never forget. Thank you.”

Price of diesel to drop further for Oxfordshire drivers
It comes as the US and Iran sign a deal to end the war and lay the foundations for the crucial Strait of Hormuz crude oil shipping lane to be reopened after months of blockages.
According to analysis by the RAC, the average price of petrol has fallen by nearly 5p since its conflict high of 159.53p on May 28, to 154.72p on Thursday.
Tesco in Cowley remains the lowest price for petrol in the city at 151.9p, according to the online tracker Petrol Prices, with the BP garage in Marston at 155.9p.

Head of policy Simon Williams said: “The diesel drop has been even more dramatic having come down by 17p a litre from 191.54p on 15 April to 174.3p which means drivers are saving £9.50 every time they fill up. The last time the UK average price of diesel was under 175p was on 24 March.
“Even more positively, the rate of reduction ought to accelerate as the price of a barrel of oil has been under $80 for the last two days – something we haven’t seen since the start of March. Drivers can now expect to see the average pump price of petrol drop below 150p in the next week or so, while diesel should drop back under 170p.”
