38 traffic offences found in Oxford and Headington

The operation took place on The Plain and London Road, with the Roads Policing Tasking Team supported by Oxfordshire C-Shift officers.

Of the offences recorded, 10 drivers were reported for using a mobile phone behind the wheel, and 23 for not wearing a seat belt.

Other offences included one insecure load, one number plate offence, two cases of driving without insurance, and one driver not holding a valid licence.

The operation led to three arrests.

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of drug driving and one for immigration offences.

Four vehicles were seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

Officers also intervened to stop a man attempting to steal a bicycle during the operation.

A police spokesman said: “Our roads are safer when everyone takes responsibility for their actions behind the wheel.

“Simple choices, such as putting your phone away, wearing your seatbelt, and ensuring you are licensed and insured, can prevent serious injury and save lives.

“Every journey matters.

“Every decision counts.

“Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone and ensure that every road user gets home safely.”
