£16.95m mansion next door to Beatles music legend up for sale
The iconic musician has long had strong links to this part of the country, with Oxfordshire fans among those who travel to see him perform and to visit Beatles landmarks.
The band played a string of shows within reach of the county during the 1960s, and McCartney has since returned on solo tours, keeping a loyal following in and around Oxford.
Many local fans also make the trip to north‑west London to walk across the Abbey Road zebra crossing and glimpse the street where he has lived for decades.

Now, a mansion next door to Sir Paul McCartney is up for grabs – but it will set buyers back £16.95 million.
The substantial home sits on Cavendish Avenue in St John’s Wood, one of north London’s most sought‑after streets where properties rarely reach the open market.
Sir Paul bought his own three‑storey Regency townhouse on the road in 1965, at the height of Beatlemania, paying about £40,000 for what remains his main London address.
The nearby house, now for sale, which is Grade II listed, stands a short walk from Abbey Road Studios and the famous zebra crossing featured on The Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover.

Offering around 5,230 sq ft of space, it is being marketed by Arlington Residential and includes seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and a south‑west‑facing garden complete with a swimming pool.
The property also comes with a library, conservatory, gym, staff accommodation and driveway parking for up to seven vehicles.
Dating from around 1845, the detached villa sits behind secure gates and a long private approach, adding to its appeal for buyers seeking privacy as well as a prime Beatles‑linked address.
Marc Schneiderman, director at selling agent Arlington Residential, said homes on the street hardly ever change hands.

He said: “Cavendish Avenue is widely regarded as the finest residential road in St John’s Wood and this substantial property is one of only nine detached villas on the west side of the street.
“These houses rarely become available for sale as they tend to be generational homes. It was over three years ago when one of these very special villas sold, achieving £17m in almost derelict condition.
“This property was built circa 1845 and is set back behind a large, gated driveway. The house enjoys lots of natural light from its tall windows and east/west aspect.
“Inside, there is extensive period detailing throughout including ornate cornicing in the drawing room and a particularly elegant and wide staircase with wrought iron balustrading.
“The south‑west‑facing garden backs onto neighbouring gardens on three sides and features an attractive outdoor pool. There is ample private parking for up to seven vehicles.”
