Probe as 12-year-old ‘assaulted’ by boy in Oxfordshire park
Thames Valley Police has said it has launched an investigation after a boy, 12, was reportedly punched in the face by an unknown youngster.
This happened on January 28 at around 1.15pm in People’s Park, Banbury.

A spokesperson for the Cherwell unit said: “We are appealing for information following an incident in People’s Park, Banbury, on January 28, 2026 at around 5.15pm.
“A 12‑year‑old boy was cycling through the park when he was approached by another boy and a friend.
“He was told to get off his bike and kneel on the ground before being punched in the face.

“The victim is recovering, but this was understandably a distressing experience for a young person.”
Police has said that the suspect is a white male, aged between 12 and 13.
He is reportedly around 5 foot, 12 inches tall, of a large build with black curly hair, and was wearing a tight-fitted dark Nike tracksuit.

The spokesperson added: “We believe there were people in the park at the time who may have seen the incident or the individuals involved.
