Benson Parish Council shared a road closure that could affect drivers across several weeks – Benson Hale Road at the junction of Sands Way and Sunnyside.

Sewer works started on March 9 and are due to continue for up to two months.

Oxfordshire M40 and A34 closures for Friday, April 3

On the M40 Southbound, Junction 6 to Junction 4, drivers should expect lane closures, an entry slip road closure and a diversion route.

This will all be in place for maintenance work from 10.15pm until 6am on Saturday.

On the M40 Northbound, Junction 4 to Junction 6, drivers should note lane closures, an exit slip road closure and a diversion route at the same time for maintenance work.

On the M40 Southbound, Junction 6 to Junction 4, it’s worth knowing that lane closures, an entry slip road closure and a diversion route will be in place for maintenance work on Monday.

These works will take place from 10.15pm until 6am on Tuesday.

Drivers should know that on the M40 Northbound, Junction 4 to Junction 6, lane closures, an exit slip road closure and a diversion route will be in place at the same time for maintenance work.

While there aren’t many road closures to be aware of on the A34 and M40 this weekend, drivers might notice a new statue near the A34 interchange.

A wooden monk could be seen for many years at the roundabout on the Marcham Road, where drivers can access Abingdon Tesco Extra and Fairacres Retail Park.

But last year, the statue was removed after it rotted, and only a small Buddha statue was left in its place.

Now, a new monk statue has been created by Manchester-based wood carver Mike Burgess, and it is expected to be lowered into place over the Easter weekend.
