Oxford area arson attack on caravan causes concern

Emergency services were called to extinguish and investigate the suspected arson attack in a layby on the A418 near Wheatley.

Firefighters from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service put out the flames to reveal a burnt shell of a caravan.

It was then handed over the police officers to investigate, with a spokesman for the force now appealing for witnesses or anybody with information.

“It is suspected to be arson,” he said. “If you witnessed this arson taking place or drove past and have dashcam please call 101 quoting the reference 1990 of March 30, 2026.”

Elsewhere in Wheatley on Monday night (March 30), police constables Dollery and Kamalee arrested a man on suspicion of a domestic related burglary and breaching a court order.

The suspect was booked into police custody and is understood to have been interviewed by officers the following morning.

Details about who was arrested, where the burglary was and what was taken were not revealed by Thames Valley Police.
