BGT judges speechless as magician reveals family secret
Judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, KSI and Amanda Holden were treated to performances from Ren DMC and Christy Coysh at the beginning of the programme.
But later on, it was act James Phelan, known for his tour The Man Who Knows Magic, who wowed the auditorium after revealing he was related to a British legend in the entertainment industry.
As magician James took to the stage, he told the judges and audience he was in fact the nephew of none other than the late Paul Daniels (Debbie McGee’s husband) who hosted his own magic show on the BBC from 1979 to 1994.
For part of his performance, James made one of Amanda’s dazzling silver rings disappear (and reappear) before swallowing a handful of needles and pulling them out his mouth on a thread.
Taking to X, this fan wrote: “James the Magician was fantastic ! I’m sure his uncle Paul is looking down with the biggest smile on his face !”
Another posted: “That was quite impressive from James.”
This person commented: “That was quite a neat set of tricks”.
However some were not too impressed, as one said: “This magic act is too long winded. And its an old trick.”
Someone else shared: “I feel there has been an overload of magicians this series.”
