Aureus School students attend MOVE IT at London Excel Centre
A group of 44 Year 9 and 10 students from Aureus School in Didcot travelled to London’s Excel Centre to attend MOVE IT, a major annual dance convention packed with performances, workshops, and industry insights.
Amy King, head of performing arts at Aureus School, said: “MOVE IT is known for its electric atmosphere, and students felt the excitement the moment they stepped inside the venue.
“Surrounded by colourful stalls, industry professionals, and world-class performers, the Aureus dancers were able to see the breadth of opportunities within the dance world.”
Students took part in high-level masterclasses and observed performances from national dance schools, as well as West End productions including Matilda and Sweeney Todd.
Miss King said: “Some students in Years 9 and 10 took part in high-level workshops, dancing alongside older and more experienced performers.
“Despite the challenge, they rose to the occasion – a moment of pride for their teachers and a confidence boost for the students themselves.”
MOVE IT also showcased training paths and career routes in the dance and performing arts industries, with colleges and professional companies on hand to advise students.
The day offered valuable exposure to professional environments, helping students develop their skills and explore options for future study or employment.
Miss King described the trip as a ‘confidence boost’ and praised the group’s maturity and enthusiasm throughout.
Aureus School is part of the GLF Schools multi-academy trust.
